Spectrum Analyzer
Avcom the best in the market

One of the known manufacturers of spectrum analyzers is AVCOM of Virginia Inc. The company's spectrum analyzer products rangers from portable ones to rack mount models.

Among the portable model of AVCOM spectrum analyzers include the PSA-37D model. This model is dedicated for satellite and CATV industries and is can cover the 1 MHz - 4.2 GHz frequency range.

Among its other features include precision rotary encoder tuning, independent span and resolution BW and readout Ku Band offsets. Meanwhile the portable PSA-39B is used for satellite and satellite HDTV. This model is dedicated on the L band 950-2150 MHz and displays L, C, Ku frequencies only. The unit has less than -90 dBm sensitivity and is equipped with 5 resolution B/W’s that range from 3 MHz to 75 KHz.

AVCOM's rack mount spectrum analyzers vary from satellite vehicles and uplinks to remote spectrum monitors and offsite satellite communications. For the latter one, AVCOM offers the RSA-45fDE model. This one has 950-2150 MHz L-Band dual satellite capabilities and has resolution bandwidth screen memories. With the right AVCOM NCSA software, you can remote monitor the measurements through your own computer. Other rack mounted analyzers include the MSA-4570D and the MSA-45D models. Both models incorporate a 950-2150 MHz spectrum analyzer, use dual resolution bandwidth and have 50 user memory screens each. The only difference is the MSA-45D's 50-200 MHz spectrum monitor. Both models are standard in width and have the 19" rack mount.

For CATV analysis, the PSA-37XP with its independent span and resolution bandwidth can be enough. The PSA-37XP is able to cover the whole CATV frequency range easy with its 1 to 1100 MHz coverage. Moreover, the model is equipped with the satellite L band from 950 to 2150 MHz which has a direct range of up to 4.2 GHz. The PSA-37XP is great for testing and setting head-end levels because of the capabilities of the unit to accomplish as much as ± 2 dB amplitude accuracy. Also, this AVCOM unit is equipped with a built-in Li-Ion battery pack. With the built in charger, you can charge the unit and work right at the antenna site. You have freedom of movement since you no longer need an extension cord because of the internal power supply.

There are also two more spectrum analyzers that you certainly want to look at. These are the Avcom PSA-65C has an added light weight backup system which ensures prolonged usage. The other one is the Avcom PSR-3000 video surveillance receiver which is primarily used to locate hidden microwave video transmitters.
